Each pattern contains complete cutting instructions, piecing directions and full size drawings of all appliqué designs.  The majority of my patterns do have appliqué on them!  I love to appliqué...oh...did I tell you I LOVE to appliqué?

I use HeatnBond Lite Iron-on adhesive. Make sure to use the Lite! It allows flexibility in the fabric after it is applied and it is very easy to machine stitch around the edges without gumming up your needle.

I love adding buttons here and there on my final projects.  On my "Sunflower Seasons" pattern I used the wooden Bee buttons (#55088) and bottom border buttons (#80687) by "JHB".  I also used the wonderful Hand Dyed buttons by "Hillcreek Designs" (www.hillcreekdesigns.com) on pattern #108, 112, 114, 117, 132, 137 and 138.  My favorites are the "Itsy Bitsy" buttons, the "Small Heart" buttons and the "Large Star" buttons.  I'm also fond of the "Mix D" buttons because you receive 3 different sizes and 3 different colors of buttons in each pack.

When handstitching I use DMC Pearl Cotton or Weeks Dye Works to stitch accents on my quilts and wearables.  I prefer size #5 in almost every color under the sun.  It is just the right thickness to show up nicely on wearables and also shows up nicely when BIG stitched on a quilt too.

My favorite appliqué thread is Sulky® 30 wt. all-purpose mercerized cotton thread in black.  This thread is slightly thicker than regular sewing machine thread and it enhances the appliquéd edges just right!  Most of the time I use all black thread to buttonhole stitch around my appliqué pieces, but I also enjoy changing the thread color to match each appliqué piece, resulting in a different look.  I also like to use the 12 wt. all-purpose mercerized cotton thread for a heavier stitched look.   I have had great success using the 12 wt. thread in various colors on some wool appliqué pieces stitched on my sewing machine!

I like to use "Weeks Dye Works", "DMC" and "The Gentle Arts" floss for my Punchneedle designs.  I prefer to use the Cameo Punchneedle with the small or medium tip with 3 strands of floss.
